Yvonne Venegas

Yvonne Venegas b.1970 raised in Tijuana, now based in Mexico City. Through long-term documentary style projects Yvonne explores ideas of gender, class, and the practice of photography as a subject of study. In 2020 she received the Jumex Grant and the Cuervo Acquisition prize for her project El Lapiz de la Naturaleza, a series of portraits dedicated to the study of pose. She received the Sistema Nacional de Creadores Grant 2021/23, and the Guggenheim fellowship in 2016 among others.

The book for my latest series, a series of drawings that come from it and a project in japan (still in dream phase).

What are you looking forward to in 2024?
 Several exhibitions i’m having in Reggio Emilia, Paris, new york  and Monterrey, and especially making those trips with my children ! My first artist residency in a very long time at Casa Wabi.
